Allergies – Rosmarinic acid is reported to reduce the risk of allergic asthma.  Evidence exists suggesting that inflammation can be reduced which is often a problem for those experiencing allergies.

Food preservation – The European Union has approved rosemary extracts containing rosmarinic acid as a food preservative.  Food preservatives represent a >$3 Billion dollar industry there is a desire to use natural food preservatives containing rosmarinic acid as alternative to synthetic antioxidants.
